One tip, as a last resort, suggests force-feeding adolescents a multivitamin and mineral pill daily to combat their naturally bad eating habits. The piece also addresses eating disorders, common in teens, and explains how to cope with the vegetarian teen:
Soya beans, seeds, almonds and dark-green vegetables provide the calcium normally found in fish; lemons, vegetables, figs, onions, carrots, potatoes and corn are rich in magnesium (which non-veggies usually get from chicken). Nuts, sunflower seeds, oats, rice, avocados and apricots are good sources of iron; zinc, which is found in all meat, is also in brown rice, cucumbers, cauliflower, lettuce and beans.
